The English Day Programme of the 64th Intake Officer Under Trainees, “HEIGHTEN 2022” was staged in a glamorous style at the AWKA on 23rd January 2022 at 1830 hrs. The Commandant Naval & Maritime Academy Commodore KDDC Fernando graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

English day is a customary event that is organized to mark the culmination of the Intensive English Module of Cadets. It provides Cadets not only an opportunity to showcase their talents but also to create a platform to use the English language effectively in order to obtain the required proficiency which is their medium of studies as OUTs.

The fantastic items were lined up including a classical drama, a comedy drama, a poem recitation, songs along with dances and a discussion to entertain the gathering consisted of the Directing staff, student officers of Long Courses, JNSC, and Sub Tech Courses, Officer Under Trainees from other cadet intakes, sailor instructors from NMA and SOUTs.

As an idea of the Commandant, two guest performances were displayed by the 63rd Intake and 37th KDU OUTs as well to make the event more colourful.

The programme was highly appreciated and commended by the Commandant in his speech and also emphasized the importance of English language as a means of communication and global networking and urged everyone to use it as much as possible in their day today life.
