Commodore KDDC Fernando officially assumed duty as the 36th Commandant of the Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee today 1st September 2021.
The Commandant took over the command of Sri Lanka Navy’s premier seat of higher Naval training during a ceremony held at the Commandant’s office in the sprawling campus within the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee. The outgoing Commandant Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara while officially handing over the mantle of the seat of this prestigious institution conveyed his wishes to new Commandant. The outgoing Commandant has been appointed as the Director General Training at the Naval Headquarters.
Commodore KDDC Fernando while addressing the officers of the NMA, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Commandant and pledged to take the NMA greater heights in keeping with the expanding roles and tasks of the SLN. He also requested the cooperation and dedication of those present, achieving the goals in order to mold and nurture well trained and disciplined officers and sailors who would serve with loyalty and dedication.
