PASSING OUT PARADE HELD TODAY IN NAVAL AND MARITIME ACADEMY AND TWENTY SIX DIRECT ENLISTED OFFICERS JOINED MAIN STREAM OF THE SRI LANKA NAVY

The passing out parade of the Direct Entry 01/2021 (RNF Technical and VNF) was held on 14th August 2021 at the main parade square of Naval and Maritime Academy ceremonially adhering to COVID - 19 guidelines. Rear Admiral PDS Dias, the Commander Eastern Naval Area graced the occasion as the chief guest and took the salute. The parade was held with the participation of representatives of Naval Headquarters and Head of the Departments of Eastern Naval Command on the invitation of the Commandant. The Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet also attended for the ceremony. All the Heads of Departments and the Faculty members of the Naval and Maritime Academy added more value to the Parade.

The parade marked the culmination of the training of direct entry officers and the officers at the prestigious Naval and Maritime Academy after being exposed to the well designed, professional, stipulated and organized training by the impeccable commitment of the Directing Staff of Naval and Maritime Academy. Now these officers are ready to steer the future ship of the Sri Lanka Navy with honour and pride. The officers are proud to join the echelon of the golden fence around the country and a victorious Navy in the world while holding the commission presented by His Excellency the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Twenty six Direct Entry Officers who are graduated from various fields of study from the reputed universities in Sri Lanka and overseas embarked the Naval and Maritime Academy on 15th January 2021 and successfully completed the rigorous basic military training with utmost dedication and commitment to reach the climax with the able and accurate guidance of the faculty headed by the commandant Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara.

Addressing the congregation, the Chief Guest congratulated the Officers and highlighted the importance of training for performances in day today activities in order to shoulder the responsibilities as the future leaders of the Navy. Further, he emphasized that the traits gained such as bravery, discipline, endurance, leadership and more importantly the integrity would be a strong stepping stone to future naval career of the officers being passed out today.

Officers who excelled at the training were awarded the trophies by the chief guest who was accompanied by the commandant. The trophy for the best marksman was awarded to Lieutenant PGCM Rathnasiri and the trophy for the best sportsman was awarded to the lady officer Acting sub Lieutenant MANP Muthukuda. The trophy for the best Direct Entry Officer was also awarded to Lieutenant PGCM Rathnasiri,

The parade was highly admired by the chief guest and it was concluded with an eye catching drill display performed by the Drill Instructor Course and the Academy band.
