Naval and Maritime Academy

Captain (G) Kusum Manjula assumed duties as the Training Captain of the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee, on 09th September 2022.

Captain (G) Kusum Manjula joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet to the 13th Intake of Kotelawala Defence Unversity on 01st October 1995. He was commissioned as an Acting Sub Lieutenant in the Executive Branch on 01st of October 1997. Thereafter, he successfully completed his Sub Lieutenant Technical Course at India and Junior Commanders Course in Air Force Academy China Bay. He has followed Long Gunnery course in India. He attended Naval Command and Staff course in the Pakistan.

He holds Bachelor of Science in Defence studies from KDU, Master of Science (War Studies) (Maritime) from National Defence University in Pakistan.

During his illustrious naval career spanning over 26 years he has served onboard various ships and establishments to include sea command of several of fast attack craft, fast gun boats and Offshore Petrol Vessels. His most recent appointment prior joining NMA was the A/ Director Naval Weapon at the Naval Head Quarters.

Captain Manjula has been awarded with Rana Sura Padakkama twice in recognition of his valor in the face of enemy.

He is married to Mrs DS Kumarasinghe and blessed with three sons Oshan (15), Jeniru (11) and Kalindu (08).
