Guest Lecture on “Ancient Weapons of Sri Lanka”

In view of broadening the knowledge on ancient weapons of Sri Lanka, a guest lecture was conducted by Mr. Chamikara Pilapitiya on 08th March 2021 at the Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium. Mr. Chamikara Pilapitiya is a veteran writer, lecturer and historian on the ancient weapons and cannons in Sri Lanka. Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral YN Jayarathne graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Senior officers in the Eastern Naval Area including the Deputy Area Commander, the Commandant and directing staff of the Naval and Maritime Academy, Student Officers, Officer Under Trainees and Sailors of the Gunnery Staff were also present at the occasion. The event was organized by NMA under the guidance of Commandant.

Two books on the ‘Mahanuwara Yugaye Apprakata Viththi’ which have been written by the lecturer were presented to the Library of NMA in order to enhance the knowledge of the Naval personnel. The lecturer was appreciated by the chief guest with a memento.
