About us
Physical Training School was established on 18th July 1967 with the commissioning of the Naval & Maritime Academy. Before being attached to the NMA this was functioned for the purpose of Dockyard sport activities and it was established in the year 1965 as a sport office.
The first batch of 10 Physical training sailors had been trained in PT School in 1967 . Thereafter 13 sailors were trained as Physical Training Instructors in 1979. First PT II qualifying course was conducted in 1991. Earlier PT I qualifying course had been conducted in foreign countries and later it was started to conduct the same course at the NMA since 2002.
Policy
To impart knowledge on all sports / sport science, games, recreational training, swimming and physical training to enable branch sailors to conduct instructional classes and make both officers and sailors physically fit for excellence in the naval service.

Mission
To impart thorough knowledge on all sports, sports science, recreational training, swimming and physical training to enable sailors of PT branch to conduct instructional classes and make both officers and sailors physically fit for excellence in the Naval service.
To Make professionally qualified PT Instructors when
they advance to the rate of PO.
To impart a thorough knowledge on all sports,
Sport science, Games,Recreational Training and Physical Training to enable these Sailors to conduct instructional
classes and confident enough them to organize all games and sports in the Navy.
To professionally qualify PT III sailors for advancement
to the Leading Physical Trainers(PT II).
To impart a thorough knowledge on the rules of various Recreational
Subjects including Games ‘Athletic and Swimming so as to enable them to run the games and act as referees/judges at inter divisional internship level.
Consolidate professional skills imparted during the PT III’s.
Impart the necessary ability of ‘Confidence and Experience' required
to conduct physical training table.
To impart necessary knowledge on sport activities for Physical Training
Instructors in order to possess the required knowledge to conduct classes on physical training in situations and to arrange and conduct
any sport activity.
