Captain Nalinda Dissanayake assumed duties as the Training Captain of the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee, on 18th November 2020.

Captain Nalinda Dissanayake, who is a proud product of Nalanda College, Colombo, joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet to the 24th Intake on 16th October 1995. He was commissioned as an Acting Sub Lieutenant in the Executive Branch on 16th October 1997. Thereafter, he successfully completed the Sub Lieutenant Technical Course in India. He has followed Basic Hydrography Course in Malaysia and Long Hydrography course in India. He holds degrees in Bachelor of management Studies - open university of Sri Lanka, Master of Public Administration - Post Graduate Institute of Management University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Master of Science Defence and Strategic Studies - Kothelawala defence University.

During his unblemished Naval career he has served onboard various ships and establishments including Navy Headquarters. He has been awarded with many medals including the “Rana Sura Padakkama” thrice for his act of Gallantry and valor.

Captain Nalinda Dissanayake is married to Gayani Weerasinghe and blessed with two sons Mihingu, Isira and a daughter Jenuli.
