Fourteen Naval officers belongs to the 01/2018 Direct Entry batch Passed out at a parade held at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee after successful completion of their basic naval training. Batch consist of five Technical and Nine Volunteer Force officers including three lady officers who joined the ranks of the SL Navy to serve the nation. Commandant Volunteer Naval Force and the Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral DNS Ulugetenna graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute on the invitation of the Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy Commodore AKM Jinadasa. The occasion was also attended by Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral SA Weerasinghe, host of senior and junior officers and family members of the newly passed out officers.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest stated that the Navy expect officers who were passed out today would maintain their integrity, discipline, dignity and contribute to uplift the image of the Navy as a professional and competent outfit, in order to safeguard, the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the motherland. He also expect these officers to play their part by discharging their service with utmost dedication to this victorious Navy.
