Seamanship school at Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA) has commenced training sessions on water sport activities to uplift the talents of students in Tissa Vidyalaya, Trincomalee w.e.f 08th March 2021. Before commencing the session a swimming test was carried out and 30 students were selected to undergo the training on water sports. Following events are conducted on every weekday evening.
iv. Whaler Pulling
The Commander Eastern Naval Area and the Commandant NMA provide directives and guidance to achieve success on these sessions. After the completion of 03 weeks training sessions, a water sport competition was held on 05th April 2021 at the NMA sailing club. Events were conducted under 04 categories for students and teachers.

iv. Teachers Open
The Commander Eastern Naval Area graced the occasion as the Guest of honour and Zonal Educational Director, Trincomalee attended as a Chief Guest to the event. In the presence of The Deputy Area Commander, The Commandant NMA, HODs in Naval Dockyard, Educational Officials, Principal and teachers of Tissa Vidyalaya and the students and parents of Tissa vidyalaya, all competitors exhibited their skills on water sports. Further a demonstration of sailing and whaler pulling which were conducted by instructors of Seamanship school and sailing pool added more glamour to the event. Finally the winners were awarded with presents by the Guest of Honour and the Chief Guest.
OIC Seamanship School is the overall in charge of this event. Further the Commanding Officer 4FAF, Commanding Officer SLNS Tissa, Commanding Officer SBS, OIC Diving School, Command Diving Unit, Command 4RU and Executive Officer SBS provided their fullest cooperation and support to make this water sports event a success.
